YANNICK LAMBELET

ABOUT

Post-Internet artist Yannick Lambelet (b. 1986, Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland) places media at the heart of his preparatory research, and more specifically the Google search engine. The artist uses it as a gigantic and inexhaustible source of visuals from which he collects his primary material, images, alternately decontextualized and then recontextualized within compositions obtained through meticulous digital collage work. These are then reproduced in acrylic on canvas. For the artist, the self-portrait consists of a divine gesture of immortalization, when the body decomposes like a zombie, the canvas, for its part, lives forever in the history of art.

Having graduated with a Master's degree in Visual Arts from ECAL in Lausanne in 2011, Yannick Lambelet has completed numerous artist residencies abroad: Buenos Aires, Reykjavik, Paris, Viborg (DK) and Ekenäs (FI), all of which also allowed him to exhibit internationally. In addition to his work as a visual artist, he actively participates in exhibition curating. Since 2021, he has taught visual arts and art history at the Lycée Blaise-Cendrars in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
